Placemaking Strategy for York Lanes Mall
Brief
Following a return to campus, York University Development Corporation sought to re-establish York Lanes as the key retail hub on campus, and strengthen its role as a vibrant destination for students, faculty and staff. The goal was to restore and realize a sense of place and connection.
Strategy
We developed a comprehensive placemaking strategy rooted in student feedback, team engagement and on-site experience. Through collaboration, research and creative activation, we identified opportunities to enhance the on-site retail experience, improve visibility and better connect York Lanes to the campus community.
The strategy combined digital and physical touchpoints, from refreshed messaging and event concepts to retailer support tools, all designed to reintroduce York Lanes as the social and retail heart of campus; a place that is always on.
Outcome
A clear, actionable roadmap and calendar of events that helps York University Development Corporation strengthen York Lanes’ identity, drive traffic and foster renewed campus connection, setting the stage for ongoing programming and future growth.
Updated Digital Presence
Brief
Modernize the look and feel of two websites while improving usability, navigation and boosting engagement for YUDC as well as for their flagship asset, York Lanes Mall.
Strategy
We facilitated in-depth discovery sessions for both websites, followed by a collaborative workshop series, working with the team to define the organization’s goals, develop targeted audience profiles and set KPIs to achieve strategic repositioning.
The design, writing and development for both websites was executed in tandem with strategy to deliver efficient and effective results.
Outcome
An aligned and renewed digital presence.
Two new websites with refreshed brand presence to align with YUDC’s strategic goals and better communicate with their intended audiences.
